The IELTS test is designed to help you use English in your new life abroad. In less than three hours, it will assess all of your English skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
The IELTS test for UK visa purposes meets certain administrative requirements that are specified by UK Visas and Immigration. The Test Report Forms will be slightly different to show that test takers have taken the test at an IELTS UK visa session. The actual test is the same in terms of format, level of difficulty, content, scoring.
The most effective way of testing your English conversation skills is face-to-face. IELTS is the most widely accepted English language test with a one-on-one speaking test to assess your English language communication skills.
So if you need to prove your level of English skills as part of your visa application, IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration is the right test for you.
Your IELTS result will be available 13 calendar days after your test. The Test Report Form with your result will be posted to you 13 days after the date of the main test day. You will not be able to obtain your results over the phone, by email or by fax.
If you are applying for a Tier 4 student visa to a Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS)/ Tier 4 sponsor, to study at a bachelor or postgraduate degree, you will need to meet the English language level set by the institution.
All British universities and colleges accept IELTS results. This means you can apply with an IELTS result from any of the 1,000 IELTS test locations worldwide unless your institution has additional requirements.
You can find an official list of British Universities and Colleges with Highly Trusted Sponsor Status/TIER 4 register of sponsor on the UK Government’s website.
