ARTIVATOR is offering a Fellowship in Art Curation (Assistant Curator) from September 2023 to July 2024. The fellowship is in partnership with the Liverpool Arab Arts Festival (LAAF) and aims to support emerging arts managers from the MENA region. The selected assistant curator will work closely with LAAF's curatorial team and participate in the planning, organization, and installation of one specific exhibition. The fellowship also includes training sessions, virtual briefings, and the opportunity to contribute to the selection process of artists.
The theme for this year's fellowship is "Port Cities," which explores the unique characteristics and significance of global port cities. Four artists will engage in critical reflections and independent research to create new artwork exploring themes such as colonial legacies, economic zones, and the climate crisis linked to port activities. The resulting artworks will be presented in a group exhibition at the Liverpool Arab Arts Festival in July 2024.
The fellowship covers visas, flights, accommodation, and provides an honorarium and subsistence for each trip. Applicants from Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, or Tunisia are eligible to apply.
The deadline for applications is 2 July 2023.
